“Beyond Basketball is a business community of entrepreneurs and professionals leveraging a professional basketball team in a peripheral region to create meaningful impact, foster connections, and drive economic investment.
This is not a philanthropic initiative, nor is it an attempt to establish a sustainable social project. From the outset, our approach is designed to generate business value.
What do we have?
Basketball – Hapoel Gilboa Galil, a professional team competing at the highest level in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
Business – The Gevasol Group, a business network that operates industrial and social-impact enterprises. So far, its community impact has been centered in the Netherlands and Israel.
Community – Idan Technology fosters learning and innovation across underserved communities in Northern Israel, creating opportunities for youth from diverse backgrounds in the Gilboa, Beit She’an, and Valley of Springs regions.
How do we make it happen?
Listening and identifying needs
Building a strong, engaged community
Creating unique value-driven opportunities for our members
Making meaningful connections

Gathering data and tracking progress to ensure that all our partners see real benefits

Our first community gathering of the year, led by Yossi Ackerman, one of our founding members, former president of Elbit Systems, and now a farmer and Chairman of OpenValley Israel—an incredible initiative bridging community, entrepreneurship, and business. (You should definitely check it out!)
When Yossi was a child, coming home from school to his family’s farm, his father never asked, “How was your day?” or “What did you learn?” Instead, he always asked:
“What did you ask today?”
This mindset became the foundation of Yossi’s leadership approach, shaping his understanding and navigation of challenges, innovation, and society.
